This 1970s brooch pin features a childhood character in the form of the little red devil. There were many such devils in our youth–Hot Stuff was one from Disney, and there were others. I can't be certain which one this piece represents, but as was the trend in vintage Native American jewelry, there were often pieces made in the likeness of many characters. This one was created by Navajo Tom James, who uses the hallmark J.W. Tom, is from Holbrook Arizona. He began making jewelry in the 1960s and using this hallmark in 1976. This piece is classic 1970s, when artists used crushed turquoise and coral to inlay within a sterling silver outline of the devil.
