Textiles, Jacquard Coverlet, Blue and White, Double Weave, Reversible, Mid 1800's
Reversible double-weave, blue and white coverlet made on a loom fitted with the Jacquard "machine". The coverlet is 68 inches by 81 inches in size. It was woven in two pieces which were then hand-sewn together into one piece. Don't know the weaver or the pattern name, but believe that it is considered a "fancy pattern" coverlet and it was made in about the mid 1800's. It is in relatively good condition with some fraying on one edge and one of the corner circular patterns (see picture #3) has light brownish stains on it, possible coffee or tea. Have not attempted any cleaning of it.
